CELEBRATE CHILDREN
The children's Square Fair, sponsored by AT&T will be a circus extravaganza featuring magic shows, face painting, clowns, jugglers, story telling, a petting zoo, and exciting musical performances to keep both children and the young at heart entertained. The highlight of the afternoon is the Best Dressed Pet Contest when participants, hoping to win the coveted first prize, parade their dogs, cats, rabbits, ponies, and even chickens dressed in elaborate costumes.  This year the Square Fair will be located down Van Buren Avenue and in the St. Peter's Episcopal Church parking lot.  A schedule of events is below.

The 8th Annual Double Decker Storyfest this year will feature several storytelling possibilities in addition to Square Fair on Double Decker Saturday.  On Friday night, April 25th, North Mississippi Storytellers, musicians, and poets will perform in the Tupelo Room of Barnard Observatory, The Center for the Study of Southern Culture on the campus of The University of Mississippi at 7:00 p.m.  Our key storyteller this year is Choctaw storyteller and author Tim Tingle from Texas. Following Square Fair, Tim will be signing his award winning book, "Crossing Bok Chitto" and "Walking the Choctaw Way," at 5:30 p.m. at Square Books Jr.  On Sunday the 27th he will be giving a storytelling concert at the University Museum at 2 p.m.  Monday, he will be performing at Oxford High School, and Monday evening will mark the finale of the Double Decker Storyfest at 7 p.m. at the Power House Cultural Arts Center.  Tim will be joined by North Mississippi Storyteller Guild tellers and musicians and Oxford High School's Poetry Out Loud performers. Free and open to the public, The Double Decker Storyfest offers family oriented events. The Double Decker Storyfest is funded in part by the Mississippi Humanites Council, the Mississippi Arts Commission, the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council and the Double Decker Arts Festival.
