Taking its name from the town’s authentic double decker bus imported from England in 1994, the festival brings together visitors and residents alike for a day-long celebration of music, food, and the arts held on the picturesque Courthouse Square.

Friday, April 27th kicks off the 17th Annual Double Decker Arts Festival with a concert  on the Square. Saturday, April 28th will feature art vendors, food vendors, the children’s Square Fair, and music throughout the day. The festival is free on Saturday and begins at 10am and goes to 8pm. Handicap parking is located behind the Caterpillar North Stage on North Lamar Blvd.

Picnic Area

The Oxford Downtown Council is excited to be involved in the Double Decker Arts Festival on Saturday, April 28th and proud to host the Picnic Area that will be located in the parking lot east of the Square on Jackson Avenue.  In addition to picnic tables, the Council will distribute free fans and bottled water in the picnic area. The eight-foot solid wood picnic tables will be painted or decorated by the following local artists:

The Council will display tables at select member store locations prior to event. The tables will be available for purchase through a silent auction from 10am to 3pm Saturday, April 28th with all profits from the auction going to the Boys and Girls Club of Oxford!

The tables would be perfect outside an office, hunting camp or home. Minimum bid is $100 per table. If you are interested in bidding on a table, please see the attendant in the picnic area.

The Council also worked with the City of Oxford, the University of Mississippi and the Oxford Convention and Visitor’s Bureau to arrange an Ole Miss Hotty Toddy Potty to be located on Monroe Ave. behind First National Bank of Oxford and University Sporting Goods, which will be available to the public Friday, April 27th from 5pm to 11pm and Saturday, April 28th from 9am to 11pm.

 

Double Decker Spring Run
Come join us in a run through the tradition-rich rolling hills of one of Mississippi’s most popular towns. Along the precisely measured 6.2 mile course, you will pass beautiful antebellum homes, run through the Ole Miss campus, as well as Rowan Oak, the historic home of William Faulkner and conclude this highly competitive race at the Baptist HealthPlex. NOTE: The course has been re-certified in 2011 and will no longer be routed through alleyways but will remain on streets throughout race. Race Times:

10K Run/Walk - 7:30 a.m.
5K Run/Walk - 7:45 a.m.
Kids Fun Run - 9 a.m.

CHIP TIMING: Double Decker Spring Run will use Start2Finish's State of the Art Jaguar Timing System. Each participant will receive a race number bib with a timing chip included on the bib. Please wear your bib number on the front of your body and do NOT remove chip from the back of your bib number. Participants in the Kids Fun Run will not wear timing chips

 

Double Decker Road Ride

This year’s ride has three fully-supported ride distances (20, 40 & 60 miles) starting at
9:00am from the Whirlpool parking lot (take Coliseum exit off Hwy 6, head ¼ mile south
into Whirlpool parking lot) in Oxford, MS.
These rides will head south of town to the small artists’ community of Taylor, MS and
beyond for the longer rides. There will be rolling SAG support and rest-stops with food
and restrooms.

shelters that operate on tight budgets helping animals find homes -- 9 Lives Cat Rescue
and Drifters Place

Shuttles
Shuttles will run from the Oxford Conference Center to the Square 10am-11pm on Saturday, April 28th. The shuttles will run every 15 minutes. $5 per person and free to children 13 & under.
