Oxford's Town BBQ Throwdown!
October 24-25, 2008
Join us for a weekend of food, fun, and festivities as we welcome championship and amateur cookers to the grounds of the Oxford Conference Center on October 24-25, 2008. Teams will be competing for over $20,000 in cash and prizes. Proceeds from the event will benefit the United Way of Oxford and the Oxford Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Our inaugural BBQ Throwdown won the Mississippi Tourism Association's Best Small Festival for 2007. You can read about it here.

Championship teams will compete in a Memphis Barbecue Network-sanctioned cook-off with the Grand Champion winning a paid spot in the 2009 MBN Invitational
Amateur teams will compete against each other to determine who cooks the best ribs and/or shoulder.

Volunteers will be needed to act as ambassadors (liasons to the teams), judging assistants, and help with People's Choice, production, among other things. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Kelly Houston at 662-232-2367. More information will be provided closer to August.
Live music and a children's fun area will be featured both Friday and Saturday.
We are currently looking for a carnival. Please contact Kelly Houston at 662-232-2367 or kelly@oxfordcvb.com if you are interested in being our carnival provider. We will start looking for other entertainment this summer.
Here's your chance to be the judge on who has the best barbeque! You can purchase a sampling of competitive BBQ and pick the best of the best - you will learn what trained judges look for in selecting championship pork. Every vote counts and you can help choose the winner of the People's Choice Contest!
Judges for the contest must have completed the judges training class provided by the Memphis Barbecue Network. If you are a trained or certified judge and would like to judge at our contest, please contact Sandra or Kyle Aylor at oxfordbbq@comcast.net or 901-531-8054 to be put on the mailing list.
